Geek News: Paul Rudd as the next Ant-Man

Fans across the globe were pumped when they heard that Marvel was making an Edgar Wrights Ant-Man movie.  Well geeks, it looks like Paul Rudd is possibly being cast for the part.  Back in October there were rumors that Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon Levitt were up for the part.  Now its sounding like its official.  I am so pumped for this movie and cannot wait until its released.  Paul Rudd has been avoiding the question for months in interviews (and has done a good job doing it), but now it looks like the secret is out. Marvel's next solo hit is scheduled for release on July 31st 2013.  What do you think about Paul Rudd being cast as Ant Man?  Stay tuned for more Ant-Man updates.

Comic Book Review: Dan Conner's, My Gal the Zombie 2013 reviews

Dan Conner's, My Gal, The Zombie is one of My favorite comic books and I am here to review the books that came out in 2013.  Dan releases a new issue and gets better and better every season, and gets me even more pumped for the next issue.  One thing I love about Dan Conner's work is it deals with a lot of prejudices.  Chelsea is the main character and its all about her fitting in with the culture around her, even though she is a zombie. I love how My Gal, The Zombie relates to life and how someone can solve a problem of their own just by reading this awesome comic.  If you have not read Dan Conner's My Gal, The Zombie, we encourage you to pick it up before reading any further as this blog has many spoilers.  I met Dan Conner through my friends at Mile High Comics and I couldn't have been more pleased to find a great new friend and also some awesome reading material that is so unique and creative.  A lot of Dan's books are at Mile High Comics so make sure when you stop in there that you get pick up some of his books as well.

My Gal, The Zombie 2013 Summer Special
This was the first full issue that was released of My Gal, The Zombie.  Another great thing about this issue is it includes Dan's 24 hour comic, Captivated.  Something that impressed me right from the beginning with Dan was how fast he can draw.  Captivated is also a great treat to enjoy in this book. Starting the book off the first comic strip is called Fashion Zombie. Chelsea has a date with her boyfriend Carter and she is struggling with what to wear, and also the makeup since her complexion is green.  Chelsea and her friend are dealing with her hair and makeup and then Carter picks up Chelsea to go out on their date. They go to a restaurant and the waitress refuses to serve them because she is a zombie.  Don't forget Dan also has Chelsea's makeup available for purchase on his website.  The second comic in the book is called Plants vs My Gal, The Zombie.  Starting off, Chelsea and her friend are at the beach and they come across a Venus fly trap.  Of course being the curious girls that they are, they decide to check it out and Chelsea gets bit.  Because Chelsea is a zombie the fly trap grew into a zombie venus fly trap after it bit Chelsea.  Then the girls try and run but the fly trap gets Chelsea.  She finally breaks loose and then the girls decide to take their new friend home and plant it in Chelsea's backyard.  I loved this comic strip, thought it was funny, and also had a little bit of an action twist to it.  Right after reading this one I couldn't wait for the next My Gal, The Zombie.  The next strip in this book is Dan Conner's comic, Captivated.  If you don't know what the 24 Hour comic challenge is, it's a competition where creators have to make a comic in 24 hours.  I always love watching the creators do these books at cons and events.  Captivated is about a King and Queen with a romantic twist to it.  I wase very impressed with this comic because it was just as good as the rest of Dan's Comics.   I loved this one and Dan did such an amazing job with it.   On the Geeking 4 Everyone scale this book gets a 10 out of 10.

My Gal The Zombie 2013 Autumn Special
I also loved the Autumn issue of My Gal, The Zombie, there are some great stories in here just in time for Halloween.  Just like the Summer Special it also has another comic called Jerry The Werewolf.  Its great getting these books and not only reading one of our favorites My Gal, The Zombie, but they also include at least one other great comic as well.  In this Autumn Special, there are a lot of mini comic strips and we absolutely loved them all.  Starting the book off the first strip is Disguise Dilemma. Chelsea is struggling with what to wear for Halloween. She is struggling because her complexion is already green, so Halloween is every day for Chelsea.  The next strip in the book is called Purby vs Tippy.  Purby is Chelsea's cat and hasn't taken too kindly to other pets in the house.  As you can remember from the Autumn Special, Tippy is the venus fly trap that Chelsea took home from the beach. The two don't exactly get along, so there is a little bit of humor in this one with Tippy and Purby.  The next one is one of my personal favorites called Chelsea in Mile High City Comics.  Chelsea and her friend are talking about comics, and some of our personal favorite places here in Denver are talked about.  The girls talk about and argue about how Denver isn't a major city so our comics aren't as good.  I could almost jump in that debate because we all know we have the best comic retailer in not just the United States but the World.  In Colorado, we are the only ones that get to experience all the luxuries at Mile High Comics.  Everyone in the World gets to experience their incredible online comics service, with more variety than you will get anywhere else.  Being in Denver or while visiting, you get to experience one of the largest comics warehouses that you will see, and events that will blow your mind.  Just in the last year at Mile High Comics we have met Neal Adams, Chris Claremont, Jim Shooter, many other amazing artists, creators, writers, and let's not forget Dan Conner.  I would have to side with Chelsea on this one that we do have the best Comics because we have Mile High. Some of my favorite charities are also listed.  The first one is Comic Book Classroom.  If you have read our Denver Comic Con blogs and have been to Denver Comic Con you know how great the benefits of Comic Book Classroom can be.  Comic Book Classroom is a literacy program for kids to help them write, illustrate, and create comic books of their own.  This is the best program for kids and the little ones learn so much from the great after school programs that Comic Book Classroom has set up.  When you attend Denver Comic Con, the proceeds go to Comic Book Classroom.  The third thing is another charity that we absolutely love, and that's Aurora Rise.  I am sure everyone remembers when the Aurora movie theater tragedy happened.  Well Aurora Rise is the wonderful organization that contributes to the victims.  They have raised so much money in helping the victims pay for medical bills, and any other expenses or loss of wages that people experienced from the shooting. They have helped so many of the victims and its such a relief to have such a wonderful organization take care of those who suffered.  Denver has such great things to offer and I was so glad that Dan expressed that through his comic.  Make sure to check out all three places and their websites.  The next strip is not pertaining to Chelsea or My Gal, The Zombie.  Its called Jerry the Werewolf.  We also enjoyed this one and love how Dan switches up his comics.  We love My Gal, The Zombie but its also nice to read some of his other work as well.  Jerry and the Werewolf is a fun, comedic horror story and was also a great story that we loved. I loved the My Gal The Zombie Summer Special and I can't wait for more My Gal, The Zombie.  On the Geeking 4 Everyone scale this book gets a 10 out of 10.

Dan Conner is one of my personal favorite artists and writers.  Not only is Dan awesome to his fans but his My Gal, The Zombie is a great comic book, but Dan also did a Kickstarter Campaign recently for My Gal, the Zombie to be a Graphic Novel and Soundtrack.  The project met and exceeded the goal, and I can't wait to get my copy of one of my favorite comics in a Graphic Novel.  I loved both My Gal, The Zombie books and can't wait for more.  Make sure if you have not gotten this book to do so.  I fell in love with My Gal, The Zombie right off the bat and I get so pumped every time Dan releases a new one.  There is also a book being released today by Antarctic Press called  A Very Zombie Christmas.  This book is composed of a compilation of different stories from great artists and writers.  This book  was also chosen this week as one of our top ten in our weekly comic picks.  My Gal, the Zombie is also featured in this book and we cannot wait to read this book when we receive it on Wednesday.  This is a book I have been anticipating for a long time and I can't wait to read one of our favorite comic strips, as well as some great stories from other artists and writers. Either way, make sure you pick up Dan Conner's My Gal, The Zombie comic book and also the Graphic Novel once its released.  Also make sure you pick up A Very Zombie Christmas.  And also for the most exciting news, My Gal, the Zombie is going to be made into a film.  When I found this out I almost fell out of my chair with excitement.   I have included all of Dan's information at the end of this blog so please be sure to check out his website and his Facebook page.  Also be sure to check out Mile High Comics, Denver Comic Con, Comic Book Classroom, and Aurora Rise.  Dan not only has My Gal The Zombie, but he also has a lot of other great books and prints.
talent continues to astound us daily.  One thing I love about Dan's creativity is how it really relates to real life and how you can relate solve a problem of your own by reading one of his amazing books.  The best books, TV shows, and movies are the ones where you can watch or read them and relate to real life.  Something about relating an entertainment to real life is just amazing.  Dan also has so many other great things coming up.

Geek News: X-Men Graphic Novel

Fans across the globe are pumped for the new X-Men movie Days of Future Past.  Well just in time for the movie to be released Marvel also announced that there would be a new X-Men graphic novel just before the movie is released next year.

X-Men is one of our favorite comic books, and we cannot wait for the Graphic Novel.  This Graphic novel will be very different in the sense that there will be no humans in this graphic novel.  That's right, we will have an awesome Graphic Novel with mutants only.  This new Graphic Novel will be titled X-Men: No More Humans We cannot wait for an X-Men book that is mutants only.  This book will also be different from the rest in the aspect that it will deal with mutant prejudice.  We think its great that Marvel is starting to deal with prejudices since it is something that people suffer from in America every day.  We love it when comic books take a story and relate it to real life so that the readers can also relate to it and maybe help someone through an issue in their life by reading a comic.  Writer Mike Carey also described this book as: "an X-Men story in a classic mold - one that pits the mutant heroes, not just against external enemies, but also against each other, forcing them to confront their own ideals and prejudices as they cope with world-changing and potentially world-ending events." This will be the third X-Men graphic novel and we can't wait until it is released in 2014.

Geeking 4 Everyone's Weekly Comic Picks (12-11-13)

Every week we like to give our fans the top ten books we recommend and plan on purchasing each week.  We also like to give one kids recommendation in our top ten. These weekly blogs do not include any spoilers just a summary of the book usually provided by the comic book distributor.  We also release comic book reviews every Wednesday that do include reviews with spoilers. Keep in mind the covers we provide are our preference so it may not be available or you may prefer a different cover.  Make sure to go to the comic distributors for information on every variant released for the books.  Over the next few months, there are some amazing titles and new series released to celebrate several anniversaries and we cannot wait.  There are some great books this week and some great books coming out in the next few weeks just in time for Christmas.  Don't forget to get some comics as gifts and stocking stuffers.  Mile High Comics also has gift cards if you want to give comics or books as a gift and want to give the person you are gifting the choice in what comics they get. Here's our top ten for the week:

Batman #26:  We have been enjoying this Batman series, and we always love picking up a new Batman when it comes out.  There are some amazing artists and writers in this series, and so far we have picked up every book.  This week, ZERO YEAR continues and Gotham is in complete disarray after the Riddler has torn through it.  Batman and Jim Gordon must work together to help put Gotham back together.  Will they be able to do it? What troubles will Batman and Jim Gordon run into along the way?

Batman Black and White #4:  Out of all the Batman series this has been one of our favorites.  There have been some amazing artists working on this series.  We have picked up the first three and have loved every one.  We also have the older Black and White series that we have also loved reading over the years.  Neal Adams has been one of our favorites in the series but this week working on this book there is also some great talent: Nathan Edmondson,Kenneth Rocafort, Dustin Nguyen, Michael Allred, David Macho, Ruben Pellejero and Sean 'Cheeks' Galloway are all working on this weeks book and we can't wait to pick it up.  If you are not familiar with the Black and White series it is composed of a variety of stories, so if you want to know whats in it you have to buy it to find out.  This is one series I would not miss. There are two more books in this series out of six books total in this series.

Cable and X-Force #17:  We have always enjoyed this series and you can expect this weeks book to be very exciting.  This week, Forge is on a Warpath and is ready to unleash on Cable and X-Force.  What will happen?  Will they be able to stop him?  There are some amazing artists and writers on this weeks book so don't miss out.

Justice League #25: This is always a series that we have enjoyed and we try to pick up at least one Justice League book a month to add to our collection.  This week, FOREVER EVIL continues and the few heroes that are left are in danger.  Owlman and Ultraman also have other plans in store for Nightwing.  Will the heroes be able to escape the danger?  Will Nightwing be able to do fight against the plans that Owlman and Ultraman have for him?  This weeks book will have you on the edge of your seat and extra excited.

Kids pick: Adventure Time Candy Capers #6:  We love Adventure time for the little ones, it is a great series for the little ones.  It is fun and educational.  The kids also love it because it is a favorite cartoon for kids on Television.  But don't be fooled by this Kid's pick because many adults also enjoy Adventure Time.  This is the last book in this series and the conclusion to a fun and sweet journey.  If you are looking for more gender related books there is also a great Ninja turtles and My Little Pony coming out this week.  Comic books make great gifts and stocking stuffers so make sure you load up just in time for the holidays.

Gold Digger Christmas Special #7:  If you are in the mood for a holiday book or looking for a holiday book to give as a gift then this is the book you should get.  The Gold Digger friends will be getting together to celebrate, and if you are a fan of Gold Digger this is one you will not want to miss.  We will also be suggesting another great Holiday book from Antarctic closer to the Holidays.

Superman Wonder Woman #3:  This is a series we have been enjoying recently and we have picked up every book since one has been released.  In this weeks book, Zod is free and Superman and Wonder Woman must stop him before he receives an advantage to his powers through the sun.  DC Comics gave the hint that this may be the last time we see Superman and Wonder Woman together.  Will Superman and Wonder Woman be able to stop Zod?  What other problems will step in the way of their fate?

Unity #2:  Unity is a series that has not been out in a while and Valiant brought it back and we could not have been more pleased with the first book.  Usually the first book in a lot of comic book series gives a lot of background.  Well the first book did this and there was also plenty of action to go around.  This is a series we have missed and valiant could not have brought it back more brilliantly.  Not only have we always been a fan of Matt Kindt's work, but Neal Adams also did a variant cover for the first book.  This series is amazing and we highly recommend picking up every book in the series.  We also love how Valiant is tying the stories together on Unity and X-O Manowar.  This week, Unity must take down X-O Manowar and also fend off nuclear war.  Just like last weeks book, it sounds like Unity is in a little over their heads.

Walking Dead #118:  The 10th Anniversary collection was such a genius idea from Robert Kirkman and we have been loving this series.  The first book, Walking Dead #115 was the most rare of them all and if you were lucky enough to attend a Walking Dead party at a comic book store, then you were lucky enough to pick one or all of the 14 variants.  We have been lucky enough to get every issue so far from our friends at Mile High Comics.  They have either given away every issue free with an online order, or by a party at their Jason Street Mega Store.  If you have not picked up the books in this series, we highly recommend you do so.  In this weeks book, ALL OUT WAR continues and it is starting to get very intense.  This week, Maggie takes charge while Rick is developing a new plan.  What will happen in ALL OUT WAR?  What do you think Rick is planning next?  We will be reviewing all books on comic book Wednesday starting this week, so please be sure to check out our reviews for this anniversary series and let us know what you think.

Wolverine #12:  We have always loved Wolverine, and this books week will have you on the edge of you seat with extra excitement.  This book will change storyline and Wolverine as we have known him for all these years.  Wolverine is confronted with a mastermind that also has a bounty out for him.  The virus is also at its final stages and is about to take over the human population.  What will happen?  Is the human race going to be infected with the virus?  How will Wolverine be changed forever?

Book Review: Adventures of the Horndribbles: Zapp and the Oogah-Oogah Nut

The Honrdribbles is an adventurous and exciting Children's book series that we absolutely love.  Its fun, educational and it has wonderful features for the little ones.  Not only are the Horndribbles a book, but all the characters also have plush toys to get the little ones extra excited.  Lucas and Devon turn this book into a wonderful adventure for kids and they also go above and beyond to support their fans.

Originally we found out about The Horndribbles through the Denver Comic Con Facebook page.  We take an interest in any artist or talent that Denver Comic Con recommends so immediately we grew an interest for the Kickstarter Campaign.  I was contacted by Devon just for showing an interest and I can say I was very pleased at the overall appreciation they give to their fans and all their supporters.  They also make some great videos with their Kickstarter campaign that any child would love.   One thing I always remembered about my childhood memories was being a fan of an author or writer that has a kids fun personality and also someone who was as heartwarming as my own family. Lucas does such a great job at entertaining and welcoming the little ones into his imagination with his books.   The Kickstarter ended just a few days ago and it is for the second book to be released.  We picked up the first book and we could not be more pleased with the amazing art, writing, creativity, and educational value this book holds.  We cannot wait for the second book and this would be a first time in a while that we are excited for a children's book to be released that was not a comic.  The Kickstarter goal was sucessfully met and also exceeded their goal.  The books are not only great, but The Horndribbles also offer some great plush toys for all the characters.  Not only will your little ones enjoy the books, but they will also be able to read their favorite books while holding a great toy that is a character in the book. We loved the first book so much that we wanted to do a review, but if you have not read it please purchase it before reading our review so we don't spoil anything for you.

The first book, The Adventures of the Horndribbles Zapp and the Oogah-Oogah Nut is a fun and Adventurous book.  It will take your kids on a fun adventure, and they will also learn a few educational life lessons along the way.  The main character is Annabelle, and one thing I love is she is a kid with an imagination to encourage your child to expand their imagination.  Starting the book, off Annabelle takes us on an adventure to Horndribble Island with her friends the Horndribbles Hux, Mosby, Meeks, and Zapp.  She tells us a story with wonderful imagination, art, and creativity.  The Adventure starts when all the furry friends are sitting by the creek and Zapp sees an Oogah-Oogah nut floating down the creek and decides to go after it. All the friends thought Zapp was in trouble because he was floating towards the waterfall.  Hux jumped in the creek to save him while the other friends, Meeks and Mosby were on the side of the creek trying to help.  Zapp was never really in trouble, but his friends thought he was and did everything they possibly could to save him.  One great thing about the storyline in this book is it teaches kids to look out for their friends and be kind and helpful. It also teaches them to work as a team to find a solution when there is a problem.  We love the books that take kids on an adventurous ride and teach them life lessons at the same time.  Zapp was never really in trouble but his friends helped him anyways, even when they felt like it was impossible to help him.

On the Geeking 4 Everyone geek scale this book gets a 10 out of 10.  Out of all the Children's books we read with our kids this has been our favorite in a long time, and if you haven't gotten it already please go to their website and check out their book.  The second one will come out from the Kickstarter Campaign next year.  Also don't forget they have amazing plush toys to go with the books.  Give your kids, grand kids, nieces, and nephews the fun and educational experience of The Adventures of the Horndribbles.

Geek News: Paul Walker Remembrance and Fast and Furious Movie News

Last week when Paul Walker passed away the whole entire nation was in shock.  Some were in denial, but most couldn't believe that he had passed and that he had such a brutal death.  Paul Walker should be remembered for not only his talent, but for the amazing person he was and how much he gave to the World and community around him.  Fans everywhere have also been wondering what will happen with the new Fast and Furious movie, The Fast and Furious 7 that had just started production when Walker died. There will also be some great contributions starting with the sale of The Fast and Furious 6

Walker was not just an actor he was a father, brother, husband, son, uncle, friend and he gave so much to so many.  Most people were aware of all the charities that Paul Walker donated to and how much he contributed to the World with his own charity, Reach Out Worldwide.  Reach Out Worldwide was a charity organization that helped people through natural disasters and it has saved and helped many people.  Most people that were not aware of his contributions soon became aware since that's where he was heading when he passed away.  Paul Walker gave to so many and even when it didn't involve his own charities he still gave so much to the community.  Going to the store if he saw someone that looked like they were suffering he gave them money.  There are so many stories surfacing about what a wonderful man Paul Walker was, and much he helped the community surrounding his home or anywhere that he traveled.  Its not a surprise to us that he contributed so much to the community around him.

Fans everywhere have been wondering what is going to be done with the new Fast and Furious 7 movie.  Paul Walker and friends were right in the middle of filming when he passed away.  And fans everywhere were left wondering if the movie would even be able to be finished.  For us this was not our first thought, the only thing we could think of was the shock of his passing and the horrible pain we felt for his family, friends, and second family at The Fast and the Furious.  Universal announced that they would still be finishing the movie, but that production would temporarily be shut down.  Right now they are trying to get through the healing period and making sure that Walker's family is taken care of before moving forward.  Universal released the following statement:  “Right now, all of us at Universal are dedicated to providing support to Paul’s immediate family, and our extended ‘Fast & Furious’ family of cast, crew and filmmakers,” the statement read. “At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on ‘Fast & Furious 7- for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise.” They also announced that all of the proceeds from the blu ray sales would be going to Paul Walker's charity, Reach Out Worldwide.  Universal studios made some very tough but ethical decisions surrounding Paul Walker's death, and we feel that it's exactly what he would have wanted. Paul Walker would be proud to know that his charity and family will be taken care of.  We also feel that he would not have wanted The Fast and Furious movie franchise to suffer from his death.  These were movies he spend half of his life building, and we are glad that it will still continue to grow.  We feel that Universal Studios was completely right with putting production on hold, but not cancelling it for good.  Paul Walker's death was a horrible thing to have happen, but we are glad to know that he can rest in peace knowing that everything he build will still be going strong.

Paul Walker was such an honorable person and gave back to so many people. Our hearts still continue to goout to his family, friends, and all the cast and crew at The Fast and the Furious.  Paul Walker's contributions will never be forgotten and we will always remember him not as the great actor, but as the wonderful man that gave back to so many people.  As far as his contributions to the entertainment industry we will never forget him in one of our favorite movies, Running Scared.  He made so many other great movies other than The Fast and the Furious, and we are also excited for his new movie, Hours.  We have included a preview of Hours so you can have a good idea of what this movie was about and why Paul Walker was so passionate about this movie.  If you want to contribute or help all you have to do is pick up the new Fast and Furious 6 movie.  All the contributions will go to Reach Out Worldwide.  If you want to contribute more than the price of a movie, we have also included the website where you can make donations.

Denver Comic Con 2014: Guest Announcements #4

Ever since last year's Denver Comic Con ended we have been pumped for DCC 2014, and so many great guests have been revealed already and more incredible guests have been added to next years event. Three more guests have been added and we can't wait to see them as well as some additional amazing guests for Denver Comic Con 2014.  There have already been some amazing artists added to next years list and Denver Comic Con has announced some more amazing artists for next year.

Last year at Denver Comic Con we had the pleasure it getting to meet and talk with Dan Parent. Throughout the entire convention we were able to spend about an hour with him, and I can say that he is one of the kindest and most inspirational artists to this date.  Last year he held two panels, one Saturday and one Sunday.  We attended both panels and learned so much from one of the most influential people in comic book history.  One thing we loved about his panels from last year is the kids loved his panels too.  Even though some of it wasn't children related the kids thoroughly enjoyed his panels and we can't see what panels Dan has is store for us next year.  If you don't know why Dan Parent was such a legend its because he brought things into the comic book World that no one else had the guts to do. He brought interracial relationships and also same sex relationships at a time where neither one of these things was accepted.  We have so much respect for Dan Parent just for this reason.  Kevin Keller was the first gay character in any comic book, and Dan Parent made fans from all over fall in love with this character in Archie comics.  Archie hasn't been something we have read a lot since kids, but we will always have so much respect for Dan Parents. When the first Kevin Keller Archie issue released it completely sold out within a day. Dan is a legend in our eyes and we can't wait to see him along with many other amazing guests at Denver Comic Con 2014.

Let's not forget how great the Golden Age of comics were.  And Denver Comic Con is bringing an amazing artist from the golden age of comics for next year.  Allen Bellman was a legend in the golden age of comics and Denver Comic Con announced that he will be a guest for next year.  He is most known for his work on Captain America in 1942, but he also has many other great titles.  His work includes, but is not limited to: All Winners Comics, Jet Dixon of the Space Squadron, The Destroyer, The Human Torch, The Patriot, Marvel Mystery, Sub Mariner Comics, and Young Allies.  Bellman is an excellent artist and we can't wait to see him at Denver Comic Con next year.

Denver Comic Con not only holds one of the best cons in the nation, but there are also some great benefits

Denver Comic Con 2014: Guest Announcement #3

Ever since last year's Denver Comic Con ended we have been pumped for DCC 2014, and so many great guests have been revealed already and more incredible guests have been added to next years event. Three more guests have been added and we can't wait to see them as well as some additional amazing guests for Denver Comic Con 2014.  There have already been some amazing artists added to next years list and Denver Comic Con has announced some more amazing artists for next year.

Last year George Perez was at Denver Comic Con and we are proud to announce that he will also be at next years event.  I am sure you have seen his work at some point, but if you are not familiar with his work right off the bat he has worked many things that you should be familiar with.  He has worked on so many legendary comic books that its hard to say what some of his best work is.  His work includes but is not limited to:  Crisis on Infinite Earths, Infinity Gauntlet, Justice League of America, The Avengers, The Avengers vs Justice League of America, The New Teen Titans, War of the Gods, and Wonder Woman.  George has always been an inspiration to fans and people everywhere.  Not only does he do great things for his fans, but he also does wonderful things for the community and other comic book creators.  He is currently a board member at a great organization called The Hero Initiative.  This makes it possible for comic book creators to have emergency money for medical funds or anything else when they get in a tough situation.  We love the idea of creators being taken care of when there is an emergency situation and we think its great that Perez contributes as a board member.  We cannot wait to see George Perez again this year at Denver Comic Con 2014.

Denver Comic Con has also announced another amazing comic book artist, Georges Jeanty.  Jeanty is an Eisner winner and also known for one of the greatest selling comic book artists from New York Times.  He is most known for his work in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but he is also known for his artistry on: Deadpool, Gambit, The American Way, The Last X-Man, and Weapon X.  He will also be working on the new Serenity series that was announced at NYCC this year. We can't wait for this series and to see Jeanty's work in the series.  Jeanty is such an awesome addition to the guest list and we can't wait to see him at Denver Comic Con 2014.

Geek News: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer and Pictures

Fans everywhere have been pumped for the new Spiderman movie,  The Amazing Spider-Man 2.  Yesterday DC had exciting news, and now today Marvel does and we have been thoroughly impressed with the comic book movie news releases the past few days.  A trailer has been released, and also some more in depth pictures.  All we know is this movie looks just as incredible as the first Amazing Spider-Man.

When we saw The Amazing Spider-Man 1 we could not wait for the second one to come out.  We were not crazy about the first set of Spiderman movies and fell in love immediately with The Amazing Spider-Man that followed the comics so well.  We have all known about Electro being in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, but today even more photos and a trailer to make us even more pumped for this movie.  We are very intrigued with where the story line will go and it will be interesting to see if Gwen dies in this movie, as she does in the comic.  We hope the movie continues to follow the comic as closely as possible and also Emma Stone has said that she is done with Spider-Man movies after this movie.  If they do make her exit in this movie we think it will be perfect so it can follow the comic.  It would also be weird to see someone else in Emma Stone's place as Gwen.  Harry will also be in this movie, and of course he and Spider-Man will be at odds once again. You can also expect to see Green Goblin and Rhino in this movie.  We can't wait for more announcements to this movie and there will be plenty to come so stay tuned.  The Amazing Spider-Man 2 comes out  on May 2nd 2014.  We have included the trailer and some photos for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for your enjoyment. Please let us know what you think.

Geeking 4 Everyone's Weekly comic picks (12-4-13)

Every week we like to give our fans the top ten books we recommend and plan on purchasing each week.  We also like to give one kids recommendation in addition to our top ten. Here's our top ten for the week:

Action Comics #26:  We have always loved this series and try to pick up a new book once its released.  There is tons of excitement in this weeks book and we can't wait to pick it up.  This week, Superman is stuck in between a dangerous alien and the robot that the United States Army that was send to kill it.  Will Superman be able to get out of this situation?  We picked the Black and White Variant for this cover.  We love the art on this black and white variant so this is the one we are picking up.

Amazing X-Men #2:  When we picked up the first book of this series we loved it and couldn't wait for the next book.  We have always loved X-Men and this is another series we always try to get when a new book comes out.  With this only being the 2nd book in this series its a great time to start collecting.  In this weeks book, the X-Men are on the search for The Nightcrawler when they get separated.  Only the X-Men are not just lost, they are also finding themselves in some very strange places.  Wolverine and Northstar somehow end up mysteriously in heaven. Where is the rest of the team and what kind of places did they find themselves in?

Batman/Superman #6:  This is another book we are excited for this month from DC Comics.  We also picked the Black and White Variant on this book.  This week, the whole World is in fear of Mongul and it will take just about everything Batman and Superman has to stop him.  The whole World will be in great devastation is Batman and Superman can't stop Mongul.  Do you think they will be able to stop him?  Or will Mongul continue with his path of destruction?

Deadpool #20:  We love this series, there has been lots of excitement and tons of traditional Deadpool humor in this series.  Out of all the Deadpool series out right now this is the one we have enjoyed the most.  We haven't been crazy about the Deadpool vs Deadpool so this is our series of choice for our favorite merc with a mouth.  This week, there's another flashback into Deadpool's past and some revelations will be discovered.  Deadpool also causes trouble on a planetary level.  What secrets do you think will be revealed about Deadpool's past?  What is Deadpool up to now?

Doctor Who Vol. 3 #16:  We love Doctor Who and we always pick a book up when a new one is released.  Just like waiting for the show, we feel like waiting for the books is just as hard of a wait.  If you love zombies, then this is just the book for you because there will be plenty of zombies and aliens.  It's Deadman's Hand part 4 of 4 and the wild timelord adventures continue.  In this weeks book, the people in Deadwood are trying to fight off a zombie attack and there are also a few other surprises in store for you.  Do you think the Doctor and everyone else will be able to save Deadwood or the World from this envasion?

Kids Pick: Regular Show #7:  We love the series Regular Show for the little ones because it is great for getting their imaginations going.  Just when they think they have figured out the book or the story it throws them by surprise. There is tons of excitement in this series that kids of all ages will love.  There is also a Garfield coming out this week if you don't think your kids will like this one.

Quantum and Woody #6:  This is  one of favorite series from Valiant and we have always enjoyed Quantum and Woody.  This week, Quantum and Woody have gotten themselves into a possible self destruction mission.  And even if the duo makes it out alive it could mean a whole different World of problems.  Will the dynamic duo make it out of the mission?  If they do make it out what trouble is awaiting them?

Star Wars #4 Lucas Draft:  We are enjoying this Lucas Draft Star Wars series, and just about any time wen we try and get Star Wars comics and novels. There are four more books left in this series and you can expect this weeks book to be extra exciting.  This series is the adaptation of George Lucas's original rough-draft screenplay.  General Skywalker and his Jedi in training, Annakin Starkiller have a dangerous confrontation with some riding Stormtroopers.  The confrontation leads them to a Cantina with .the crook, Han Solo and things get even more dangerous for our Jedi's.  Will they be able to over come one of the biggest battles in the desert?

Shadowman #13:  Shadowman is another one of our favorties from Valiant, and this weeks book has us extra pumped.  When a disturbed man, Jack with a rough history of violence and blackouts meets an very large source of power the results end up being devastating.  Once he wakes up after believing he was possessed he must uncover the mystery and pick up the pieces.  Will Jack be able to uncover the mystery?  Was he really possessed or is this part of his history with blackouts?

Superior Spider-Man #23:  We have been enjoying this series there have been some incredible artists and writers through out this series, and it has been a great all around action packed comic.  In this weeks book, its the Darkest Hours part 2 of 4 and after Octavius makes a big decision in his life it also affects Flash Thompson and it could be the end on venom.  Marvel called this "One of the most cringe-worthy moments in ALL of Spidey-history!"  This is one issue of Spidey that you will not want to miss.  You can also expect to see an appearance from the Green Goblin.  Do you think its the end of Flash Thompson?  What else do you think will happen with Green Goblin?

X-Men Legacy:  This series has been pumped with action and surprises and we have been thoroughly enjoying this series.  This week, Professor X has broken loose into the real World, and there could be a lot of people in danger. Its also Legion's final showdown with the monster.  Who will wain?  What kind of terror and trouble is Professor X going to cause?
