Geeking 4 Everyone's Top Picks of the Week (9-25-13)

There are so many great new titles that come out every week that it makes it so tough to choose.  But each week we will be choosing 10 titles that are our top picks, and we will also be giving a short description of the comic.  Our intent is not to reveal anything but a summary of what the book may be about, but if you don't want to know anything then don't read any further.  Our weekly reviews will be more designed to actually discuss the book with more spoilers, the purpose in these weekly blogs is to recommend books to our fans, and let you know what is on our list for the week (which we will also release every Wednesday).  We love to hear all input from our fans so please don't hesitate to let us know how you like any of the books recommended, or if you have any questions.  The picks are always done alphabetically so these picks are not numbered from first choice to last choice only the top 10 that we choose to purchase for the week.  We also like to pick one children's book so parents out there know what to get for their child. There are so many exciting things going on this month for comics.  DC Comics is doing a Villains month for the whole month of September, there will be special villains issues that we are excited for.  The issues will also have variant covers that will be available in 3D.  Pull your comics fast, and please keep in mind your comic book retailer cannot control how many they get of this issue so please be patient and remember there are no guarantees.  Next month there will also be some exciting Halloween issues being released starting next week, so starting next week we will be discussing those.  Here's our top ten for the week:

Batman #23.4 Bane:  We are finishing off our Villains month Batman collection with this book.  We have always enjoyed books with Bane, so we are especially excited for this weeks Batman.  In this issue, Batman is now gone and all of the prisoners from Arkam Asylum are running around like crazy, and who knows what damage they will cause.  If that isn't enough havoc for Gotham, Bane is on a warpath and he is ready to destroy anyone who gets in his way.  What damage will the prisoners cause?  And even worse, what damage will Bane cause on Gotham?  Will anyone be able to get the prisoners under control and be able to take down Bane?

Batman Superman #3.1 Doomsday:  We have picked up every book so far in this series so we want to continue on with this series.  The first book in this series was a little slow (as many are), but we feel like the excitement is starting to pick up. This issue takes place before Superman fought Doomsday, and we see a lot more detail about Doomsday.  This was when Doomsday caused turmoil on Superman's World, Krypton.  Will Superman be able to stop Doomsday?  What new exciting details will we find out about Doomsday?  Will anyone come in to help Superman before its too late?

Batman The Dark Knight #23.4 Joker's Daughter:   We always love picking up a new Dark Knight when there is one available, and have picked up one so far every week for Villains month.  Joker fans, this would definitely be a good book for you to pick up for a new kind of crazy.  Now that Arkam Asylum has been completely destroyed, The Joker's daughter has a whole new herd of crazy followers in the new dark Gotham.  Will anyone be able to save Gotham or is it destined for darkness forever?  What damage will The Joker's Daughter cause with all of her new followers from Arkam Asylum?

Gambit #17:  It has been a while since we have read any Gambit so we wanted to pick up this weeks book.  This series is finally reaching the intense conclusion and Gambit must choose between his two seperate identities.  The only problem is he must choose fast because he is right in the middle of a Villain riot.  Hopefully no one is already chasing after Gambit because it sounds like he has his hands full. What will Gambit choose, being a Hero or a theif?  What consequences could he suffer based on what he chooses?  Will Gambit be able to survive the Villain riot?

Justice League #23.4 Secret Society:  We are continuing our Villain's week collection by picking up another issue of Justice League.  So far, we have not missed an issue yet and we have been enjoying this collection.  There have been several new Villains across the new 52, and we find out why they are there and what their purpose and targets are.  What damage will the new Villains cause across The new 52?  Will anyone be able to stop the new Villain's from causing damage?

Kids Choice: Peanuts Vol. 2 #12:  This series is great for kids, it is a great read and it also teaches them a few things.  Who didn't love Peanuts as a child, or even as an adult?  Not only, is this a great book for your kids to read but it is also educational.  In this issue, Peppermint Patty teaches Sally Brown how to be a good student.  If your child struggles in school, or doesn't like school then this is the perfect book.  Your child will be engaged with this book, as well as learn about school and how to be a good student.  Sometimes having a child listen to a character they love is the best way for them to learn.  For more gender related books, we would suggest the My Little Pony being released this week for girls, and for boys there is a new Transformers coming out this week.

Mind MGMT #15:  We have always enjoyed the Mind MGMT series and also Matt Kindt's work.  In this weeks issue we find out what happened to Henry Lyme between the first and second stories.  We also find out why he is building a team and what danger he could possibly get into next.  There is someone after Henry and we find out who that is in this book.  Who is after Henry?  What will we find out about between the first and second stories?

Star Wars Legacy:  Who doesn't love Star Wars?  We like this series because we are looking forward to what the future of the Star Wars Legacy holds.  In this weeks issue after having a vision of Empress Fel falling from a sith, Ania Solo and Knight Jaio ignore the orders they were given and head out to look for the Sith that goes after Empress Fel.  Can they find the Sith before its too late?  What problems will arise with them ignoring orders on their other adventure?

Uncanny Avengers #12:  We have always loved this series, and this week even though DC are the ones having Villains week this is an excellent Marvel Villains issue.  If you love the Marvel Villains and possibly even some new Villains then you will love this issue.  Marvel has hinted there will be several bad guys in this issue.  There is also a secret pact between Ahab and Red Skull and we find out what kind of havok this can cause for the Mutants.  Kang's motives are also revealed in this issue, and we see the Apocolypse twins.  What will happen in this issue and how will the Avengers handle all this Choas?  What will we find out about Kang's true motives, and the pact between Red Skull and Ahab?

Wolverine and The X-Men #36:  We have been enjoying this series and we try to get a new book every week when it is released.  We both have always been huge X-Men and Wolverine fans.  Marvel didn't give away a whole ton of info this week, but it is Battle of The Atom Part 4.  Marvel said any more information and there would be too many spoilers so we will all have to read and find out.  We will find out the Fate and future of the new X-men in this book.  What do you think is in the future for The X-Men?  What do you think will happen in Battle of the Atom Part 4?
