Geeking 4 Comic Book Wednesday: Top Picks for January 13, 2016

Every week we like to give our fans the top ten books we recommend and plan on purchasing each week.  We also like to give one kids recommendation in our top ten. These weekly blogs do not include any spoilers just a summary of the book usually provided by the comic book distributor.  We also release comic book reviews every Wednesday that do include reviews with spoilers. Keep in mind the covers we provide are our preference so it may not be available or you may prefer a different cover.  Make sure to go to the comic distributors for information on every variant released for the books.  Don't forget to shop at Mile High Comics for amazing deals and they also have every book available to order before its released.  Usually if you order online you can get a free book with your order, and they also offer other discounts.  This week I am so pumped for so many books that are coming out, and especially The Walking Dead # 150 and the finale to Secret Wars.

Agents of Shield #1:  This is a brand new series that was inspired by the tv show and I have been anxiously waiting for this series to be released.  Tony Stark makes a guest appearance, and this series will be packed with tons of action.  This book has four different covers, be sure to check them all out.

All New Wolverine:  Things get really weird in this weeks issue when Wolverine turns to to Sorcerer Supreme.  Will both of their powers be enough to conquer the evil and turmoil of Alchemax?  Parental advisory is suggested for this issue.  This book comes in three different covers so be sure to check them out.  For me I am choosing the Deadpool variant.

All New X Men #3:  So far I have been enjoying this series and I can't wait for more and see where this series takes us.  Cyclops has caused absolute turmoil and that damage has caused the mutants to go into extinction.  Scott Summers has to clean up a majority of the mess and is affected the most. Storm and her team decide to take the remaining mutants to her safe haven, while the original X-Men do the opposite.  Can the damage be reversed that Cyclops has caused?  This book has the original cover and then two variants.  I love the look on the Marvel 1992 variant.

Back to the Future #4:  So far I have been enjoying this series, and I am looking forward to see where this series takes us.  In this weeks book, Doc is keeping many secrets and even with Marty being his assistant for several years he still can't figure out what Doc's secrets are.  Will his secrets be revealed this week or will IDW have us waiting anxiously?

Green Lantern Corps Edge Oblivion #1:  It has been a while since I have read any Green Lantern, but I am excited for this new series.  If you read Green Lantern: Lost Army then this series takes off right from where that one left off. Starting off in this series, as their universe starts to degenerate the Green Lantern Corps must find a way home.  What kind of troubles will they face along the way? Will they make it home?  This book only comes in one cover.

Guardians of the Galaxy #4:  Guardians has always been one of my favorite comic book series, and I usually don't miss it when one is released.  A new threat to the galaxy has emerged named Yotat the Destroyer and he will have blood.  This book comes in two different covers.

Red Sonja #1:  The last time I read Red Sonja I thoroughly enjoyed it, and this week we are getting ready to start a whole new series.  Red Sonja will have a new look with the same writing.  This series will get dark so get ready for an epic new series of Red Sonja.  This week the King is dying and Red Sonja must save the king when the kingdom is its weakest.  This book comes in several different variants, so be sure to check them all out.  The cover I purchased for this week was Tony Fleecs because I have always enjoyed his work.

Secret Wars #9:  This is the finale of the series and this is a book that you should not miss out on. You can expect many twists to the story this week and an issue packed with tons of action.  With this series being so focused on Doctor Doom, what will happen in the end with Doctor Doom?  How many Epic Battles will we see in this weeks issue?  This book comes in 6 different covers so make sure to check them all out.

The Walking Dead #150:  It seems like it has been way too long since a Walking Dead was released and I am absolutely pumped for this weeks issue. The Walking Dead is one of my favorite series and it is a series I heavily collect and read.  I have been beyond satisfied with what some of my Walking Dead comics are worth and how much the value grows, not even monthly but daily as well. In this weeks issue,  Rick finds himself betrayed. Will Rick be able to over come it?  Walking Dead #150 is a special sized anniversary issue and it also comes in six different variants.  I already pre ordered every single cover on this book, you can't miss out with 40 pages for the same price.  A few of the variants are a few dollars more, but still well worth the collectors purchase.  Robert Kirkman has said this series will go to issue #300 so sadly enough this could be the halfway point to the end of one of the most epic comic book series out there.

Kids Pick of the Week-Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #0: Who doesn't love the Power Rangers?  In this series some teen aged Power Rangers are going to work together to defeat the aliens, and there will be plenty of flashy costumes and action to keep your child's interest.  This series could be great for kids or adults and keep everyone pumped for the movie coming out in 2017.  The Green Ranger will be the leader in this weeks book as they fight the ultimate battle.  .

Merchandise of The Week-Game of Thrones Titan of Braavos Statue:  The Titan of Braavos is a massive statue that guards the harbor entrance to the city of Braavos seen in Season 4.  This statue is a limited edition so well worth the purchase.  If you like collecting and especially statues I wouldn't miss out on this buy.  Retail value this statue is priced at $224.99.
