Geeking 4 Comic Book Wednesday: Top Ten Comic Picks of the week

Every week we like to give our fans the top ten books we recommend and plan on purchasing each week.  We also like to give one kids recommendation in our top ten. These weekly blogs do not include any spoilers just a summary of the book usually provided by the comic book distributor.  We also release comic book reviews every Wednesday that do include reviews with spoilers. Keep in mind the covers we provide are our preference so it may not be available or you may prefer a different cover.  Make sure to go to the comic distributors for information on every variant released for the books.  Don't forget to shop at Mile High Comics for amazing deals and they also have every book available to order before its released.  Usually if you order online you can get a free book with your order, and they also offer other discounts.  This week I was not overly pumped for the books coming out but I still found some that I want to pick up.

Amazing Spiderman #3:  The first two issues of this series I absolutely loved.  In this weeks book we get to discover Spiderman in post Secret Wars and get some unanswered questions be discovered. The building known as the Baxter Building is Parker headquarters which we will also get a peak of, and Human Torch comes back to tell Parker exactly how he feels about his current mission.  What will happen with our current webbed hero and Human Torch?  What will we discover about Secret Wars this week?    Don't miss this incredible action packed book this week and make sure to check out both variants for this book.

Deadpool #1:  He is rude, crude, and loves chimichangas but who doesn't love Deadpool?  I have been pumped for this series to come out for a while.  This series is suppose to be Deadpool's most exciting adventures yet.  With the movie coming out I am pumped for a whole new series and can't wait to see where this series takes us.  Don't miss out!!  This book comes in nine different variants so be sure to check them all out.

Detective Comics #46:  For the first time in a long time Jim Gordon decides to finally leave Gotham. But, the reason he left is a good one, to help The Justice League.  He is off to help Superman, Wonder Woman, and some of the other greatest hero's.  Will he be able to help them?  What kind of adventures will The Justice League and Gordon be on next?

Doctor Who 8th #1:  This is a brand new series, and I almost never miss a Doctor Who series.  This book is a whole set of new endeavors with the 8th doctor.  Five new stories will take place as he investigates new troubles that are surrounding his new partner Josie.  Magic Shows, Dangerous Trees, lost books, and much more excitement will be throughout this series.  Catch up with an exciting adventure and love story with this new series.  One of the best selling authors with the Doctor Who novels, George Mann is the writer on this book.  This book comes in four different variants, I listed the one that I would prefer to buy but the more variants you have the better the value.

Extraordinary X-Men #1:  X-Men has always been one of my favorite comics.  I am pumped for this new series and I can't wait to see where it takes us.  This week, Storm puts together the best team that she possibly can with the possible extinction of the mutants again.  They will all be fighting with the battle that they are despised and afraid of by the public.  The X-Men will be faced with battles like never before.  Will they be able to survive extinction?

Hercules #1:  Who doesn't love Hercules?  This is a brand new series and I am excited to check it out.  It's time to save the World, and there's no better way to do it than with this new series. Hercules proves that there is no better way to do it than with a hero that is determined and experienced.  What turmoil will Hercules come across?  Make sure to check out the several different variants with this book.

Howard the Duck #1:  Ever since I saw the trailer for Howard the Duck at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy I have wanted to read a Howard the Duck comic.  This series is finally here and the very end of the book was released to be shocking and that nothing else would ever be the same again. What will happen in this book to change it all for good?  This book comes in six different variants.

Spider-gwen #0:  This is a brand new series and I want to see what it has to offer.  I love the story of Spider-gwen and want to see what this book has in store for us.  Starting off this series Spider-gwen was was bitten by a radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker.  How will she overcome being bit and will she survive?  This weeks first issue only comes in one cover but it has bonus material.

Uncanny X-Men #600:  I have always loved this series and love how the plot thickens with each book and the character development gets stronger and stronger.  In this weeks book the focus is the new Xavier School, The Jean Grey School.  All the X-Men are at a crisis and not everyone will make in through this in one piece.  Who will survive this week?  This book comes in a few variants so be sure to check them both out.

Kids Pick of the Week-Regular Show #29:  It is always great to know what's coming out for your little ones.  This week I picked Regular Show because I think its a great one for the little ones (and adults), it always keeps your interest going so your kids will enjoy reading it.  In this weeks book the group will go on an adventure and end up in the clouds.

Merchandise of the Week-Batman Black and White Harley Quinn Statue:  Black and White is one of my favorite Batman comics.  And I love any Black and White Merchandise.  This statue is a beauty and could be of value someday.  You may need to pre order this item as it does not have great availability.  This item is priced at $79.95.

Volume (Trade Paperback of the Week)-Avengers Omnibus volume 2:  I absolutely love Kurt Busiek and George Perez, and this is a must have for me.  I have the first book and love this collection.  This weekend, George Perez will be at Rocky Mountain Con here in Denver and I want this volume to be signed by Perez this weekend.  I usually don't collect Volumes and only buy them for the reason of reading a lot of books at once for a lower price, but this book is priced high and worth even more with signatures.  This book is more expensive than most volumes priced at $125.00. Enjoy this book as the Avengers continue to have multiple threats and save the World.
